Bokeh (my lots and lots of dots {or spots} print)
I finally got my dots/spots screen made last week and I am soooooo happy with the way it turned out. This screen was made with Speedball photo emulsion and dots that I punched out of cardstock with a cheapo circle craft punch. I then scattered them across the dried emulsion and exposed the screen to the sun for 20 seconds or so, rinsed it off and there you have it. Random, overlapping dots that work great as a panel and as yardage. Pretty happy with this one :)
I'm calling this one Bokeh (because it reminds me of that photo technique, of course) and have it available in my shop in three colours so far printed on organic linen/organic cotton and 100% organic cotton. I've also managed to give my Etsy shop an update and tidy up so you can find it there too!

Oh yummy!!! Love it in the red :)
ReplyDeleteI love the design and I love the name too! I just wish our sun was strong enough for me to expose screens at home
ReplyDeleteLove the black!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful and classic, just like your other prints. How do you get your prints to be so perfect every time? Do you wash between every panel? Is your ink extra thin? Do you pull lots of times to ensure full coverage?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kels! I don't do anything special when printing and I definitely don't wash between even panel. Thin ink actually makes printing a bit harder as it can bleed more easily, mine is just normal paint consistency and I pull the squeegee any where from 2 to 5 times, depending on the print/ink. Are you having trouble? A good quality squeegee is pretty key to getting clean prints and having the right mesh on your screen for what you are printing on (fabric vs. paper).
