i'm back in action. christmas and new year's a thing of the past, my mom's visit sadly over, second trimester in full swing and about a billion things going on around our house. we're organising and trying to pack up half of our house as it's going to be torn down in the next couple of weeks (good times!) and the full on house renos will finally start, i'm applying for my australian citizenship which means forms, paper work and studying, of all things, and trying to get back on track with quilt orders which have fallen so far off schedule it's not even funny. i was hoping to get three quilts done before christmas and due to pregnancy exhaustion, i got, well, one done.
at least in turned out pretty well : ) this was a collaboration between myself and the client - she had collected quite a few sweet japanese fabrics that she wanted used and i supplemented them with bits and pieces from my stash for more variety of prints. not my usual colours but i really love how it came out, somehow modern and 1970s all at once.
so yes, i'm back but it's crazy times around here and promises to continue for most if not all of this year. 2010. bring it on.

My goodness, how much has Miss Mae grown over the 'break'. Sounds like you have 2010 planned full of great stuff already. Hopefully the exhaustion should pass soon and you will get the energy boost

ReplyDeletekim, the woodgrain fabric on the back is by joel dewberry from a couple of years ago. you may be able to find some on etsy but it's pretty hard to come by these days!
peta, i use an organic cotton batting in my quilts. i'd say it's a mid to light weight but gives a lovely vintage-like crinkle.

hi belinda, i call this style of quilt "freeform" and i basically just make it up as i go along. i gather all the scraps i want to use and then just start piecing whatever shape fits with whatever shape, over and over again until i have the size of quilt top i want. hope this helps!
