the first is a simple patchwork of large squares. these quilts feature diagonal quilting through the squares, coordinated handmade binding and, typically, a patterned cotton backing.

the other style of quilting that i absolutely love to do is what i call freeform. i take scraps of cotton and linen prints or solids in the colours of your choice and randomly piece them together, whatever shape fits with whatever shape, until i have a big enough piece for the quilt top. freeform quilts are quilted with straight lines so as to not compete with the fabrics, have handmade co-ordinated binding and feature a cotton print or solid on reverse.
i use a mix of vintage and new fabric and all are either cotton, linen or a blend of the two. all of my quilts have an organic cotton batting which makes them perfect for year round use, on their own in summer and layered in winter. i make a pram/bassinet size which is a perfect quilt to wrap around babies without too much extra bulk, a cot/crib size, single, queen and king sizes. more examples of my quilts can be seen here.
the custom quilt process is a fun one - you tell me what colours and style you like, i pull some fabrics together and send you a photo of what i'm thinking of. you let me know if the fabrics are good to go or of you'd like to see something else. when the fabrics are approved, i get to work cutting and piecing them together. once the quilt top is done, i send along a photo of the top plus a couple of backing options. choose your backing and then i'll baste it together, quilt it, make the binding and all of a sudden, you have a lovely quilt made just the way you wanted it : )
