just popped out to newport with em on our lunch break and discovered the most awe inducing thing at darn cheap fabrics:
they carry some lecien and other japanese fabrics!! at, wait for it... $7.50 per meter!!! they also had a couple of moda prints for the same price. i could NOT believe it - i'd been into the shop before, months ago, but the saleswoman wasn't very friendly and the selection near the front was so dismal that i didn't even make it to the back corner where the "craft fabrics" are kept. i'm so glad i gave it another look as they also had a great selection of really cheap linen and linen/cotton blends. i bought 3 meters of this one at $4.95 per meter (40% cotton, 60% linen):
i bought it with the view to do some fabric printing on it (sorta lotta jansdotter style) and then use it to make a new cover for the chair i bought last week. i don't know though... do you think it might be too wrinkle attracting of a fabric to use for upholstery?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
and so we come to the last of the 30 day posts. i enjoyed it, i really did, except for the one or two days when i really felt like i had NOTHING to talk about. i plan to keep up daily posting when i get back, give or take a day here and there. anyone else out there who is thinking about doing a daily post challenge (and i thought about it for almost a year before i took the plunge), i highly encourage you to give it a try (and let me know if you do!).
i'm off to broome bright and early tomorrow morning, then down the coast to 80 mile beach, coral bay and exmouth before we fly back out of broome, brown, cheery and full of seafood, on the 24th. have a lovely week and a half, everyone!!!
darn cheap fabrics..newport...that's like a 10 min walk for me...in fact, I walk past it every single day on my way to and from the station.
ReplyDeleteSometimes they've got good stuff on, so I try to pop in every now & then.
I actually went there on Wednesday...and I guess I totally missed this gorgeous fabric :(
