just a quick pop in to say "hello there, this is my daily post" in between filling wee holes in the floor with putty as baxter nips at the edge of my sleeves for attention and shane has the super noisy sander going in the next room. this type of behavior has been going on sporadically the last 5 or 6 days, at least on my part - shane and the noisy sander have been almost constant companions since saturday, poor fella. we're going to be finishing the floor with an environmentally friendly hardwax oil which, aside from being non-toxic, is going to leave them with a lovely, soft matte surface. i'm discovering as we reno this house that i have a strong aversion to "shiny" things - i want matte tiles, matte floorboards, satin finish walls... which just reminds me of the daunting task of picking wall colours soon...
i'll worry about that later, back to work for me!
You are a brave couple refinishing your own floors! My dad tried to suggest that we get unfinished floors installed a few years back and finish them ourselves, but he almost had a mutiny on his hands! lol. Best of luck... I know its a lot of hard work (and I'm sure it'll pay off beautifully in the end!)!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to be so happy when it's all finished. I feel like now that the weather in the Northern Hemisphere is swinging back to short, cool days, GB & I should be turning our attentions indoors to continue our renos, too. Looking forward to seeing some pics when it is all done!
ReplyDeleteHa! I have just done the same thing throughout our whole brand new house, using the same product, and must confess I did a bit of a dodgy job and had to get the professionals in to do the second coat - now it looks stunning! We love our floors! Happy painting!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog. Such and honest an gorgeous read.
