Since I spent most of yesterday afternoon curled up in bed, eating a giant chocolate block and feeling sorry for myself because:
a) it's almost Christmas and I miss my family and friends
b) I didn't get a phone call about a job yesterday that I was expecting to get
c) Optus told me I can't get broadband because I'm on a Mac
(and yes, this was enough to make me resort to bed), I'm turning things around today. I just need to accept the fact that I probably won't be working until January and so have made a plan to indulge in all sorts of baking, roasting and art and crafting that I've always wanted to try but never had the time. Today I'm dying squares of plain cotton with Kool Aid (that I brought from Canada) and plain old black tea. I remember reading about tea dyed fabric years ago (I think it may have been in a Martha Stewart mag) and loved the look of it. I dyed some yarn with Kool Aid last year in Vancouver and it was great fun but haven't heard of anyone trying it out with cotton fabric. The whole reason I'm doing trying is that I went to Lincraft this morning in search of pale, natural looking coloured cotton fabric and couldn't find anything that was quite right. I have a few projects that I want to try out with inkjet printing on fabric and the stuff I'm dyeing should be just right. I'll post pics tomorrow if they turn out as hoped.
